Emile Petrone, I worked there Having worked at Yelp, let me throw my 2 cents in. I think everyone is ignoring the simple question - "What is my motivation for writing this review?" The "rabid yelpers" write lots of reviews because that is their thing. It builds on their personal brand/ their image in the Yelp community. The people who leave steaming negative reviews are disgruntled and need a place to vent their frustration. The area in between these two accounts for very little of Yelp's content. Like any user-generated content site, the vast majority of content is created by 1-2%. For "personalized reviews" - how many of that 1-2% in your area are actually like you? Regardless of scale, that isn't very many people (if any). The easiest answer to this is showing you reviews by your friends - people you already have defined as similar to you. They have news, photos, videos, and forums for both released and upcoming games. Pocketgamer.co.uk - great for many mobile gaming platforms. Fingergaming.com - Gamasutra for mobile slidetoplay.com - has been around for a while. 148apps.com - has been around since the beginning and covers both games and non-games. Which leads me to NON-GAMES: (First the blogs) - Techcrunch.com, Mashable.com, Wired.com, Gizmodo.com all cover interesting businesses/apps, but you have to dig through the rest of what they cover to find this. AppAdvice.com - Pretty good editorial around all apps, and they also have "applists" for comparing apps in certain categories and sub categories like GPS apps. Creativeapplications.net - Great coverage of artistic and cool apps. While not always very useful, they will likely impress your friends....
